Re: MAAC Baseball Tournament

Niagara definitely has the hitting advantage and in a short series may have the pitching advantage. However Rider overall has better pitching and Fielding as you said is a concern. I think I know how the tiebreaker played out. The first team to play all 3 teams 4 times was Manhattan. Rider only play...

Re: MAAC Baseball Tournament

That was the best scenario if going on the road. It appears that wins was the criteria for the standings and Rider with 18 got the 3 seed. How they selected Canisius over Marist is beyond my reasoning. All 3 teams with 17 wins were ranked 4,5,6. Marist had the fewest losses and Niagara had the most....

Re: MAAC Baseball Tournament

I don't trust it either. I've also read that they may run simulations of all the non played series over and over to come up with a predicted final finish of equal games. The tiebreaker policy that is in place could be used under that scenario. I'm not sure they even know how to go about it yet other...

Re: MAAC Baseball Tournament

Canisius and Monmouth split on the last day of the regular season today. So I believe Canisius moves into a home series for the playoffs depending on how the conference ranks the standings. That could mean Niagara plays at Canisius which is not so bad considering the travel options. I think hosting ...

MAAC Baseball Tournament

The tournament includes 8 teams. I assume they are using the same format as Basketball did to place the teams which would be number of wins. In that case Niagara finishes either 4th or 5th. Is that correct? Only 2 games still to play that can affect Niagara's position. A doubleheader Sunday of Canis...

Re: BB NU HOSTS FFD MAY 8/9 DHS

Makes sense what you said jhart but the Official MAAC site has games listed through next Sunday the 16th with Niagara playing 2 doubleheaders against Rider on the 13th and 14th. Perhaps that was the original schedule and they didn't remove those games but some of the others are listed as cancelled s...

Re: BB NU HOSTS FFD MAY 8/9 DHS

Hoped to see Niagara pull off at least 1 win this series but it was not to be. However, they played Fairfield as tight as anyone has this entire season. Fairfield has had a number of close wins but managed to pull out all but one of those games the entire season. That is the sign of a very good team...

Penn State @ NU

UND's 2021-22 schedule Oct. 8-9 -- NIAGARA UND's regular-season opener against Niagara will feature a head-to-head matchup between former Moorhead High teammates Ethan Frisch (UND) and Carter Randklev (Niagara). The duo played two seasons at Moorhead together from 2016-18, leading the Spuds to the s...

Re: Hockey: Where do we go from here?

The NCAA apparently had a provision that a back up could step in but only for the first 24 hours after selection. Notre Dame was already in Albany when they tested positive so with contact tracing and injuries they did not have enough players left to field a team. There should have been up to 2 team...
