Re: The WCHA As We Now Know It Could Be Dead

We will see if I can get all of this from over on USCHO regarding the chance of a veto override in Alaska: There was a pissing match earlier about whether the special session should be in Juneau or Wasilla. The Democrats felt it should be in the capital, Juneau, the Republicans and Governor wanted i...

Re: The WCHA As We Now Know It Could Be Dead

I love this statement by bale31 over on the SiouxSports.com message board. One team has joined D-I college hockey in these seven years, Arizona State. Yes, others have or are exploring, but only one team has made the move. "....one of the positives that people have liked to point out over the l...

Re: The WCHA As We Now Know It Could Be Dead

As an outsider looking in on the Alaska situation: When the Seawolves (Anchorage) announced the move back on campus, I felt things didn't look good. The press release said financial challenges made it necessary, but then in the next paragraph they announced that they would work to upgrade the on cam...

The WCHA As We Now Know It Could Be Dead

Wow, Huntsville and the Alaskas left out! I know there are a lot of questions surrounding the Alaskas' futures, but Huntsville has plans in process for a new arena, pending funding from the Alabama Board of Trustees. Not sure how I feel about this....... Any AHA teams looking to bolt, or will Huntsv...

Re: 2018-19 Hockey Schedule very slow in being released

Absolutely right Millsy. There is however one factor that can help and that is the bonus points in PWR from a win on the road. Beating a ranked opponent on the road has value in PWR and can make a difference in the final PWR in either getting in to the NCAA tournament or in placement in it. Like le...

Re: 2018-19 Hockey Schedule very slow in being released

Both Colgate and Cornell appear to owe games to Niagara as since NU joined Atlantic Hockey they have played both on the road 4 times with only 1 home game against each. Most of the other NY schools have been even exchanges Clarkson 3H/3A, St Lawrence 1H/1A, Union 2H/2A. and RPI 1H/2A. The series ag...

Re: Hockey Recruiting/ Millsy's analysis of the Junior Leagu

Okay, I got things a little mixed up on the Canadian side of the boarder.... They have three levels, Major Junior (pro in the eyes of the NCAA), Junior A, which is recruited heavily by NCAA teams, and Junior B, which is a lower level of junior hockey. Sorry for any confusion....

Re: Hockey Recruiting

I will try to answer the junior league questions best I can. One thing that makes it confusing is that Canada and the States have two different structures. In Canada, you have Major Junior, which sometimes is called Junior A. These leagues are the OHL, WHL, QMJHL, etc. These leagues are considered p...

Re: WCHA/AHA Invitational

Good concept but under the current AHC scheduling agreement, members only have "5" OCC games. I'm not sure how this would fit in and then there is the COST of travel and or a neutral site. Why not in Buffalo? I think the only chance you have to get everyone on board and make it successful...

Re: WCHA/AHA Invitational

Bantering it around on Facebook and over on USCHO, would the incentive be there for Robert Morris and Bemidji? Both schools already get pretty nice non-conference schedules against the bigger dogs. Would eliminating two games from those non-league games be made up for with this tournament? Not sure ...
