Another forward commitment today - Ryan Cox from Alberta Junior Hockey League. Nice numbers last season...39 goals and 29 assists in 60 games. https://www.eliteprospects.com/player/166657/ryan-cox

Twitter @rcox19: Proud and excited to announce my commitment to play D1 hockey at @NiagaraUHockey. Thank you to my family, friends, coaches, and teammates who have helped me get here. #BleedPurple

Thanks ! With 39 goals the kid can certainly put the cookie in the net. It will be interesting to observe how NU performs in year 2 under Lammers. After such a hot start last season, the team faltered again due to injury bug syndrome which has plagued this program .

Not sure where I found this but here is a NU video used for hockey recruiting. I was quite impressed by the student presenters on the video. It gives a good tour of the facilities available to the hockey team. I think the coach will make a world of difference for NU. He seems to have a sense of a what is necessary for marketing the program.

He actually sent a letter to individual hockey donors in September with a coach's wish list and followed up with a personal phone call when he received a donation for the program. He willing spent 10+ minutes on the call discussing the program and inviting me to stop in to meet him if I make it to campus. Personal graciousness still means a lot.!

Niagara University men's hockey head coach Jason Lammers announced two players signed a National Letter of Intent (NLI) to join the Purple Eagles for the 2019-20 season.

"During our first year as a staff, we identified the need to recruit more speed and skill," noted assistant coach Matt Nicholson. "Moving into our second season together and seeing how the conference has evolved, we made a conscious effort to further add to our depth while at the same time adding some more size and heaviness to the lineup. We feel that having both Jacob and Jason on our roster will make us much harder to play against over the course of their time at NU."

For those interested in what next year's hockey team is adding after a conference championship appearance - I'm a big fan of Elite Prospects and you can check out the team's stats page (https://www.eliteprospects.com/team/211 ... ?tab=stats) and navigate to 2019-20 and 2020-21 to see future committed players. Not sure if this is 100% accurate, but I haven't found a college hockey resource that's as accurate as many out there for basketball that track offers and whatnot.

Out next year:
- Curran and Farmer at forward (maybe Lomsnes too? Any chance he comes back as a redshirt-senior? He was a monster in the first half of 17-18 on the way to the national ranking)
- Kovachis on D
- O'Brien at G

Confirmed incoming next year:
- F Jack Billings (redshirted this year from D-III Salve Regina where he played for Boschetto, will be redshirt-junior)
- F Jacob Kendall and Jason Pineo (https://purpleeagles.com/news/2018/12/2 ... tions.aspx)

Elite Prospects commits:
- Forwards: Lucas Herrmann (Nichols School kid and played for the same USHL team this season that Stenlund came from), Cameron Cook (42 points in 54 NAHL games), Ryan Naumovski (54 points in 56 NAHL games), Connor Hill (EP says he's committed 19-20 but he has no stats from playing anywhere this past season)

- Defense: Jesse Pomeroy (6-2, 185, 14 points in 53 AJHL games) and Scott Persson (5-11, 176, 22 points in 45 NAHL games) - EP says both are committed for 20-21.

- Goalie: Chad Veltri - went 17-7-2 in USHL this year (!!!) .875 SV% in 10 games with Sioux Falls, .909 SV% in 20 games with Youngstown. His Youngstown team is going to the USHL playoffs and also has Sabres draft pick Brett Murray (who left Penn State to go back to the USHL) as well as Matt Barnaby's son. Veltri's another Pittsburgh area kid like Cooley, found this article on him: http://burghhockey.com/notes-rink-chad- ... skin-nahl/

No - I think he was always on the radar for bigger programs than the AHA has to offer. EP says he's going to Penn State.
