2020 Hoops recruiting

Postby Suge » Tue Dec 03, 2019 10:50 pm

Didn't want to take away from the conversation on the 2019 thread. New hoops year. New Coach. Figured we needed a new recruiting thread.

Four new names. No offers but it seems we're interested:

Nicholas Boyd:

Combo guard Nicholas Boyd
https://youth1.com/basketball/1750090-n ... background

Combo guard Nicholas Boyd from Garnerville, New York, has a rich family history when it comes to the game of basketball. Boyd’s uncles are Fred Hill and Brian Hill; Fred Hill is an assistant coach at Seton Hall University and former head coach at Rutgers University. Brian Hill is currently an assistant coach for the Detroit Pistons whose coaching career spans over 40 years. Boyd is well aware of his family pedigree and is constantly working to become a better basketball player.

The 5’5” 14 year old is currently attending Don Bosco Prep and playing AAU ball for The Riverside Hawks (NY). Boyd is not as tall as some opposing guards, but he makes up for it with quickness and a diverse skill set.

“My biggest strengths are shooting and handling the ball. I also like to share the ball and get my teammates involved in the game,” said Boyd.

Boyd has been playing against some tough competition and shined during some recent notable tournaments. His best game came against the PSA Cardinals at the Hoop in the Sun Tournament where he dropped 18 points, including four 3-pointers.

The best players turn their weaknesses into strengths. Boyd would like to improve upon his defensive focus and driving ability. If he continues to work hard and improve his game, the future certainly looks bright for this 2019 prospect.Combo guard Nicholas Boyd from Garnerville, New York, has a rich family history when it comes to the game of basketball. The guy who wrote this article must have had senior citizens in mind. If you forgot what you read in the first paragraph he reminded you about it in the second.

Wague was on Casey's radar. His recruitment has picked up since then. Good to see we might be still interested.

Paulus took in the Lew Port/Park School game about 2-3 weeks ago. Lew Port features Roddy Gayle. He's probably out of our range. Park has NF native Jalen Bradberry. They've got a big man named Arogon or something like that. Pretty good player in his own right.

Get ready for an exciting 2020 rendition of NU basketball and an even better '20-'21 season.

Paulus is a tireless worker and a skilled, enthused coach.

Niagara is about to "rise like a phoenix from the ashes..." A few programmatic hiccups at the beginning of the season but Paulus is now the right guy at the right time..we couldn't have done better; 'noth'n out there 'cept opportunity" for NU!
