Niagara (9-9): Can finish as No. 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, or 9 seed. Can clinch first-round bye with wins Wednesday at Siena AND Friday at Canisius.

Basically, we have to win both games on the road to clinch a first round bye at 3,4, or 5. We hold the tiebreaker with Iona...

Siena and SPU have clinched first-round byes and will either finish as No. 1 or 2 seed.

Both contests will be tough.

Siena is a good ball club and is undefeated at home. On Jan 10 we beat them at Gallagher, 72-71.

Canisius is, well, Canisius, and they are going through a long, tough season and it appears Reggie might be shown the door...and a win in their final home game against NU would certainly be welcomed by Griff fans. Last time out, Feb 12 we beat them 69-66 at Gallagher.

So, this week we face two teams we have defeated at Gallagher on their home courts.

Carpe diem!

Right, two very difficult challenging games at the TUC and KAC. Can these "cardiac kids", pull it off ? Nothing would surprise me at this point.

Anyways, here is the MAAC Men's Bracket :

We control our own destiny, that is to say two wins and nobody can pass us. However there are other combos that also work for us. Qpac has one game left, @ Iona. Best case 10-10; Iona like us is 9-9 has two games left, QPac and @ St Peters, best case 11-9. obviously someone has to lose the Iona Qpac game. Manhattan is 8-10 with two games left. @ Rider and vs Fairfield. There best case is 10-10. If QPac beats Iona, we beat Siena and Rider beats Man. we can clinch it Wed. night. We hold the tie breaker over QPac and Iona and Manhattan would have 11 loses. I think? Of course we could all go 1 and 1, we win, all go 0-2. QPac wins.

Something is not right in the scenario listed. Rider, Niagara and Iona can clinch byes with wins but that makes 6 teams. I don't think Iona locks in a bye with 2 wins because they would lose the tiebreaker to Niagara if they both win twice.

There are only 5 teams with a bye. Putting Manhattan and Qpac aside, Iona needs to win one more of the last two games than we do to over take us. The author forgot to mention that detail.

Iona has QU at home and an away game at SPU. They may get by QU in New Rochelle, but all bets off against the Peacocks in Jersey City. NU has a difficult path as well against the Griffs in Buffalo and at Siena. I like our chances against the slumping Griffs. However, Siena has not lost at the TUC this season —-tough game.

Just FYI, a major incentive to finish #1 or #2 in the MAAC is that the top two seeds get a day off on Thursday before the semi-finals.
