Siena admits violations and more news

Postby Suge » Tue Mar 10, 2020 12:27 pm

On the eve of the MAAC tourney, Siena learned their punishment for "allegedly" paying players under Jimmy Patsos. They'll pay a fine. Vacate some wins. No postseason ban which is a NCAA favorite. Patsos gets a 3 year show me ban.

In a move that hasn't made many happy, the Ivy league has cancelled their conference tourney due to concerns over the coronavirus. The regular season champ will go to the bug dance.

Expect more sports events cancellations around the country as more tests are done and cases increase.
One mile area in New Rochelle, home to Iona, is now a containment area with National Guard through March 25

The IVY league tournament was supposed to be at Harvard's 1,636 seat arena. With so few seats why not just play it without spectators? There are 3 major(if you consider the highest amount of cases in the USA) outbreak areas; Seattle, Westchester County specifically New Rochelle, and Boston due to a Biogen convention in the Marriot Long Wharf. That hotel is a favorite of wealthy visitors. So they also could have easily moved it elsewhere. Harvard is really upset. At 21-8 and only 1 game behind leader Yale they do not get the autobid. And they recently just beat Yale by 14. Could they get an at large bid to the NCAA's?

Maybe the MAAC should just ban Iona and let everyone else play. Iona has had their fair share of NCAA bids recently.

NYC just cancelled this weekend's half marathon.
Biden and Sanders just cancelled Cleveland rallies due to confirmed cases.
Wonder what voter turnouts will be in six states primaries today and more next Tuesday and beyond.

CBI tournament has been cancelled.

Ohio is following suit with other places prohibiting large gatherings which means no fans for the play in round for the NCAA tournament in Dayton or the first round games in Cleveland.

Kind of surprised Siena didn't lose any future scholarships...got off very easy!
Colleges are responsible for what coaches do under employment.
It is a failure of oversight.
