It appears a suspension of sorts will be handed down at some point in time. Lest we not forget, the NCAA moves at glacial speed so I wouldn't expect any final verdict in the near term. The guys over at the Iona Board don't seem overly concerned with the NCAA's announcement. The school actually issued a statement supporting Pitino's. Here is one of the comments from the IC Forum:

This was a BRILLIANT hire. Pitino will at MOST get suspended for 15 games--at MOST--and that won't happen until 2021-22, by the time the full process plays out. And with all this going on, you guys can stop worrying about bigger schools rushing in to take him from us. We will have him for at LEAST 3 years, if not the full five. Again--BRILLIANT hire.

JUST FYI FROM THE IONA FORUM:

According to an article on CBS Sports the NCAA can penalize Rick Pitino in one of three ways:

1. With a 10% of the season suspension (three games).
2. With a 20% suspension (six games).
3. With a 50% suspension (15 games). So I'm guessing that Guy's earlier post was a worst case scenario.

Anyone see five level 1 NOA's by NCAA on Kansas this week.
So the dirtiest programs so far include KU, UL, and UNC.
KU player acknowledged never attending class and getting A's.
Stay tuned for more.

These schools should be banned from the NCAA Tourney for at least two seasons.

from the NEW YORK POST ARTICLE, these paragraphs have stuck in my mind and I COULD NOT AGREE more:

Finally, despite the pandemic that has rendered 33 million-and-counting Americans unemployed, simple-solution subscribers continue to argue that college athletes be paid.

Fine. But with what? There’s now not even enough money to light the classrooms, heat the dorms and pay the profs. How much can people, now that they’re on unemployment, pay in school taxes?

Even local, wink-and-nod boosters — the car-dealership owners, the restaurant-chain owners — now have to sweat business survival. Yet sports media still don’t get it: Six years of no-cost, full scholarships, plus cash Pell grants are not enough, now pay them even more in the name of higher education-by-accident. But that party is over!

Saw in the Philly papers that one of slime ball Pitino's assistant coaches, Kenny Johnson, is no longer employed at LaSalle,. He took the job last year and his name mysteriously went missing from the LaSalle basketball web site within a few days of the NCAA report. I am sure that there was something in his contract negating any guarantees of employment if the NCAA report implicated him. I doubt if Pitino will last 2 years at Iona.
