The league will officially drop the puck on the 2020-21 season during the weekend of November 13-14, 2020. he Purple Eagles will play a 22-game conference schedule, plus an additional pair of games against scheduling partner Long Island University (LIU), a first-year program that is one of two independent Division I teams in the NCAA. Additionally, Niagara may schedule up to four more non-conference contests to reach a maximum of 28 regular season games. One of the biggest changes coming this season will be the introduction of "pods" for scheduling purposes. Teams in the eastern and western pods will play the other teams within their pod five times apiece for a total of 20 games.

This is welcome news. I assume there will be nobody in attendance, but it still gives players a chance to develop.
I hope fans/students have a realistic chance to watch the games on tv.

It is my understanding that there will be no fans through calendar year end and then determined by current Covid 19 situation.
Western NY has had a resurgence in cases in recent weeks.

LIU and maybe Navy to AHA?
Meanwhile, sources note that UAH has already inquired about Atlantic Hockey membership, but that doesn’t seem to be an option at this time. AHA has 11 teams, and everyone on Earth believes that the league is holding a spot open for Navy to be the 12th. That seemed imminent, despite its denials, or at least was until the pandemic hit. There’s no reason to think the conference will change its mind about having a faraway program as the 13th when they’ve already suggested that getting the Chargers in isn’t a priority.

Even if Navy falls through, LIU is looking more and more like a potential 12th partner. Now, if Navy joins and then you have UAH and LIU, that could be an even 14 again — but that's a lot of teams for one conference. You might make a case for splitting into a two conferences, but now you're looking at a lot of levers that would need to be pulled.
