Canisius (6-4) v Niagara (8-10), (MAAC 7-9), Fri, Feb 26 & Sat, Feb 27 (both games at 12 pm)

MAAC CHAMPIONSHIPS
ATLANTIC CITY, NJ
Mon, March 8 – Sat, March 13 (SAT) TBD

Canisius: "The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) announced Monday a number of changes to the men's basketball schedule in light of recent Covid-19 related issues around the league. With these changes, both of remaining the Canisius men's basketball MAAC series have been adjusted.

With this latest round of changes, the Golden Griffins are now scheduled to play at long-time rival Niagara on Feb. 26-27 in Lewiston, N.Y. Previously, Canisius was slated to close out the home portion of its 2020-21 regular season at home against Manhattan Feb. 26-27. As it currently stands, Canisius will not play Manhattan this year in the regular season.

Additionally, Canisius' final MAAC series on the schedule will be at Siena, with those two games scheduled to be played March 4-5 in Loudonville, N.Y. The 2021 Hercules Tires MAAC Men's Basketball Championship will start March 8 at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, N.J.

Game times and broadcast channels will be announced in the coming days as that information becomes available. The Griffs, winners in five of their last six games, are 6-4 overall and 6-4 in the MAAC after splitting a weekend series at Fairfield Feb. 19-20."

Notice how the standings have been suddenly reversed in the last 2 days . Richard J. Ensor in his infinite wisdom has declared that the standings should be based on number of wins, not based on winning percentage ? So in essence, the MAAC is penalizing teams that were forced to cancel games due to Covid guidelines. Can anybody make all of this up? 2020 continues in 2021 .

Our website says the CC games are Feb 26 and 27.
Iona regular season is complete due to another pause.
That leave them with six wins.
They expect to be available for the tourney.

You can look at it another way which is what I like about it. The MAAC is rewarding teams that have made the effort to keep Covid under control in their programs in that they play most of their games.

I concur.
If you have had to shut down four times, the program doesn't have the buy in from all components: Coaches, players, staff and players.
Reap what you sow!

This is ridiculous, punishing kids for being kids under Fauci’s new world order. BTW, why is the MAAC the only league other than the IVY (shutdown ) to come up with this new ranking system? So I guess the logic is we should punish the 30 -50 million or so Americans who have all tested positive. Sorry guys, it’s nuts.

Canisius board reports that it was the Niagara team (player) that tested positive for Covid.
