It was a tough week for Niagara, losing a pair against Mount St. Mary's and Marist. We opened our show discussing the current state of Big 4 Hoops. Then, later in the show we discussed if the Purple Eagles are capable of making a run in the MAAC Tournament starting at the 47:00 mark.

Hey guys,

Wanted to introduce myself. My name is Mike Bundt and I'm a former Sports Anchor and current Cover 1 Podcaster. I grew up in Buffalo and have followed Big 4 Basketball since I was young.

I used to cover UB and Canisius closely and recently started a podcast discussing all of the local WNY teams with my friend, John. He's been heavily involved in the local hoops scene, even working as an assistant coach at the lower college ranks.

The main takeaway from this broadcast was relatively "new" team has totally bought into Greg P's system. They really like the this teams energy and togetherness under Paulus.

It's true the Western New York does not produce a large number of viable D1 recruits and the most of them play elsewhere and never consider UB, Niagara and Canisius.

We spoke about Niagara's loss against NJIT at the 32:00 mark. Obviously a very discouraging loss overall but one they'll just have to forget about and move on from. Purple Eagles should be able to get back on track in their next game against Binghamton.

Thanks for the update on the Big 4 especially Niagara. The B4 is struggling this season with no teams "above" the .500 mark.

I agree, if Iorio plays against NJIT, the prospect for a NU win on the road increases.

As mentioned by others, NU needs a big man to step and play consistent minutes at the 5 position in order to compete with the upper tier of the MAAC. Iorio has been doing yeoman's work at center, but is really a power forward by trade. Big O or Triore?
