Disappointing night for NU athletics!
And the referees get a "D" for tonight's performance on the BB court.
From a retired international official!

NU went stone cold , 1 of 12 at the 26 second mark .Man.
SC totally shut down NT in the second half. NU did not contain Stormo in the second half , ditto Macallom.

Horrific night for both Hockey and Hoops. Should have gone out tonight in Music City or watched MASH reruns. I’m batting .000.

My Purps have to learn how to close out games against quality opponents in the last 5 minutes of a game. Several of the Saints top players stepped up and scored the ball while Thomasson, Gray and Iorio were listless. All is not lost with Marist marching in tomorrow from Buffalo to our homecourt.

Sounds like it was a good game to miss. One is not going to win many games being out rebounded 31-17. The development of someone to play a respectable center position is an ongoing problem. The other guys just get worn down.

We held our own on the boards in the first half .The second half was a completely different game in the paint. Iorio looked like he was playing good positional D on Stormo, but he kept in scoring at will. Gray had a few put backs, beyond that we had little if any production in the paint. I don’t know why Mitchell didn’t get more minutes instead of going with 3 guards. According to Todd C, SC was down their starting small forward and 6th man (Kellier). The Saints will be a tough out at home in MAAC play if they stay healthy.

I still maintain the top 4 teams in this league consist of Iona ,Siena , QU and Niagara. We just have to figure out better paint production if NT is not ripping off 24 points with good looks driving the lane .

Just saw the UTube reaction from Hubie Brown about his bubblehead.
It must be on the NU web site.
Looks like he was surprised. Very nice words about Niagara and his friends Larry Costello and Frank Layden.

1,020 at the GC last night. Attendance is down all over the country for hoops due to the lingering Covid culture of people "staying in place."

Yup, very kind words for NU from Hubie Brown. He became quite emotional describing his experiences at NU.
