SMU took their program up several notches a decade ago when they brought in Larry Brown in his 70's.

With the opening at St. John's and the news that SJU is targeting Pitino I would be shocked if he does not end up there. Only need to wait until Iona bows out for this to happen. Who knows, maybe they can make a run like St. Peters did last year. I am assuming a blowout over Marist tonight.

Kudos the Marist for making a run in the MAAC with a 13-17 record overall. It's Marist's first MAAC Championship appearance since they joined the league in the mid 90's. Unbelievable. The Big Red could keep this close because of their big man Gardner who dominates the glass and paint. They have good length at all positions. ..Let's hope Iona does make a run in the NCAA , but they lack a true power forward. Slazinki (sp) is out for a the season with an injury.

Two full pages on the SJU job and last night's Iona win by two sports writers, Braziller and Schwartz.
