This series adds luster to one of the best rivalries in college hockey, with the two Buffalo area teams meeting for the 69th time on Friday. Canisius holds a 31-30-7 all-time advantage, including 6-3 in the postseason. The teams met in the semifinal round back in 2013, when the Golden Griffins upset the Purple Eagles, 5-3. Both teams made the NCAA tournament that year, the only time Atlantic Hockey has gotten two teams in.

No. 6 Niagara at No. 4 Canisius: The Battle of the Bridge rivals are both returning to the AHA Semifinals for the first time since 2021. Canisius is making its ninth appearance the semifinals, which ranks No. 4 in conference history, while Niagara’s appearance will be its sixth since joining Atlantic Hockey in 2010-11. Canisius has won seven of the 10 postseason match-ups. This will be their first meeting in the semifinals. The two split their only series in 2022-23, with each team taking 5-2 decisions in a two-game set Jan. 27-28 at Canisius. The Griffs hold a slim 31-30-6 lead in the all-time series.
