Griffs advance to championship game vs Holy Cross
Re: Griffs advance to championship game vs Holy Cross
The way the game started it seemed as if NU would blow out the Griffs . The stats were so one sided and yet it was just a one goal lead . Very frustrating because the situation couldn't have been scripted any better for NU to host the championship game at home . Mediocrity and getting sent home every year is really getting old . Still waiting for the program to take the next step under Lammers , it's hard to distinguish one season from another .

Agreed Truful. Mid major challenge. Recruiting and retaining scorers!

The team did improve this year across the board and most importantly in the win and loss column (19-18-3). Obviously, NU failed to capitalize on the golden opportunity to host the AHA Championship game which stings.
Our special teams were fairly consistent this season. Game over !!!. Soccer Eagle nailed it :

While the chances for hosting the championship game were great, they very likely could have lost to Holy Cross. Holy Cross has been playing great the last several weeks going 10-5 including 3 wins over RIT, 2 over AIC and sweeping Niagara less than a month ago. However Holy Cross was swept by Canisius during that time as well and could be less of a threat to Canisius.
