Providence's Ed Cooley goes to Georgetown and Rick Pitino signs six year deal with Fr. Shanley at SJU.
That leaves openings at PC and Iona which I suspect will be filled very soon.
I'm not a fan of Massiello at Iona via Manhattan.
Cal, Stanford and SMU to the ACC

Re: BIG EAST WELCOMES TWO COACHES
I wonder if these long-term deals are like NFL contracts where only a portion is guaranteed.
St. Johns should become power again under Pitino even if they had to sell their soul to become one. That is life in 2023 Big time basketball.
I say that Jay Wright should get a reward for being the smartest coach in 2023. He left this mess and is probably making as much by being a commentator and doing endorsements as he was as the coach of Nova.

Re: BIG EAST WELCOMES TWO COACHES
Pitino has been public enemy number one on the Iona board since their loss to UConn and the St Johns story surfaced. It will be interesting where they go from here. I don’t see Massiello a likely choice. His recent record at Manhattan has been questionable, Jasper fans wanted him fired last year. Whoever gets the job will have big shoes to fill after Cluess and Pitino. I don’t see Grasso from Bryant either..but what do I know.
Re: BIG EAST WELCOMES TWO COACHES
Anderson ? Some pushing for Grasso ?

From the Iona Board:
He confirmed what I86 said about Tobin Anderson. Strong to ties to area, living in Rockland and his kids don't want to move. Posted Anderson spoke to Iona, as well as another MAAC program (Manhattan?). Serious talks to the point of talking salary. Mentioned the only concern Anderson would have, and was when interviewed couple years ago, was the salary pool for assistant coaches. Yeah FDU doesn't pay, but you need a good staff in the MAAC to succeed. That's where the buyout money Iona threw away could have helped the program
Time will tell

Interesting list of candidates and there are probably more out there worth considering. I would think the FDU coach would have some interesting prospective offers. Kind of surprised Cooley left Providence.
I don't see it as a big step up, considering they are in the same conference and G'Town has no recent success. HS kids have no idea how great the teams were back with Ewing,Mourning, Wingate, Mutombo & the other outstanding college players were among the top 5 teams. No Hoya highlights on Sports Center in years.

Re: BIG EAST WELCOMES TWO COACHES
UCONN '13 winner on NCAA Champioship team Taliek Brown is on Iona staff as an assistant but just this season.
He's going to get his chance as HC somewhere in the next few years.

Re: BIG EAST WELCOMES TWO COACHES
The NJ.com article mentions Tobin A, Grasso and possibly Tim Cluess. My uneducated guess would be Anderson or Grasso at this point.
I heard Cooley was offered close to 6 million. PC could not come close to that kinda of money and GU’s commitment to the NIL bullshit.

I don't see Tim coming back but will ask his family.

Many articles on Pitino out there.
The type of guy I would wash my hands after greeting.
