Re: Saratoga Outing
I drove through Saratoga Springs last month for the first time. Looks like a wonderful place. I'd love to visit when I have some time.
I am actually a micro-owner of a horse (Sixtythreecaliber) that's running today. Good luck to me.

How did your horse do?
Re: Saratoga Outing
It's the most beautiful racetrack facility in the country, open only six weeks each year.
Having attended a few times, it is first class and well attended by NU Alumni.
Highly recommend!

Re: Saratoga Outing
My recollections of racetracks are that they are full of smokers thereby fully diminishing any value to attend. Is that the case here as well? My father used to like to take a yearly excursion from eastern Massachusetts out to Saratoga and he liked that track, although I never went inside it does look nice from the outside.
Re: Saratoga Outing
I use to peruse the streets of Saratoga back in the day as well as attending the races in the summer. My Dad's uncle was a part-time jockey in Great Barrington, MA in the 40's and 50's and would race occasionally at Saratoga. I use to hear all the old stories etc...In later years, my daughter played spring and fall sports against Skidmore College in Saratoga. I remember a famous Skidmore college bar right off of Main Street back in the 80's that was a very popular hang out. I forgot the name ---Maybe Eagle of NU Eagle can chirp in on this.
Billy: Great place to kill a weekend anytime of the year.

Re: Saratoga Outing
It's not a bar but my niece who attended Skidmore always went to Caffe Lena on Phila Street to perform her songs. You are probably thinking of Caroline Street which is bar after bar. By the way Travers Day, the biggest event at the track is August 26 this year.

Re: Saratoga Outing
Sorry for not getting back sooner, but my horse, Sixtythreecaliber, actually WON at Saratoga.
I was able to watch it live on TV.
As I mentioned, I am a micro-owner through My Racehorse. (It's not really an investment, but you can have fun with it.)
This was an unbelievable race. Watch it. Sixtythreecaliber is #4.
