Akbar Waheed's son is a rising star
Akbar Waheed III while still a class of 2025 HS student has seen multiple offers from at least 7 ACC schools and about a dozen others including a few of Niagara's peers. While a longshot, at least Niagara should offer this legacy recruit. His father has been coaching for many years in the NCAA most recently at Georgetown where he was released in March following a dismal season under Patrick Ewing. He spent 11 years as an assistant under Joe Mihalich after graduating from NU, then had stints at BC and Hofstra as well as a season as an NBA scout. You know his son will have a high Basketball IQ in addition to talent.

The lengthy list of big programs is impressive and UMBC and Siena also reached out to the young man. At 6'6" he can probably play 2 positions. Rated as a 3 star player.
