The AHA went 1-6 last night in OOC. THe AHA has improved, but "it STILL matters what league logo is on your sweater." Burky's old quote still resonates today.

Nice win for the Cross over UConn at home. NCCA Champs QU barely got by AIC last night in double OT at the MMC in Springfield, MA.

Attendance:
At Holy Cross: 1,200
At AIC (MM Arena): 700
At SHU: 4,100
At AFA: 2,700

Michigan State 5 @ Air Force 3
Quinnipiac 3 @ American International 2 OT
Connecticut 1 @ Holy Cross 2
Canisius 2 @ Miami 4
Colgate 3 @ Sacred Heart 2

USCHO lead article this morning:

6. Brick wall at Brick City
The sellout crowd (10,556) at Rochester’s Blue Cross arena went home happy after Rochester Institute of Technology’s 3-0 win over Notre Dame on Saturday.

RIT won its fifth consecutive Brick City homecoming game, this time behind a 36-save performance by junior goaltender Tommy Scarfone, who recorded his sixth career shutout.

Carter Wilkie and Cody Laskosky each had a goal and an assist for the Tigers, who killed off six Notre Dame power plays, including two minutes of five-on-three in the first period and a five-minute major that spanned the second and third.

7. Strong start for Holy Cross
Is it too early to look at the 2023-24 Pairwise Rankings?

Of course it is. But it’s kind of cool to see Holy Cross at the top.

The Crusaders, who last year were picked to finish last in Atlantic Hockey but made it all the way to the conference’s championship game, have opened this season 3-0, including a weekend home-and-home sweep of No. 20 Connecticut by scores of 2-1 and 2-0.

On Friday in Worcester, Jack Ricketts’ shorthanded goal at 6:32 of the third broke a 1-1 tie, and the senior provided a late insurance goal in Saturday’s 2-0 victory in Storrs.

Goaltender Jason Grande made 50 combined saves for the Crusaders in the two games, including all 28 in the shutout on Saturday.

Sacred Heart, RIT and Army are drawing very well to start the season. The Purp’s crowd of 1,000 last night for the season opener has to be the largest turnout in quite some time at Dwyer.

Veltri is doing well for RMU, being in the top 5 nationally in Save Percentage at .942. Doing even better if that was even possible is Sibell at St. Thomas. He is 3rd at .947 but he is also 4th in Goals Against Average at 1.27. I was bothered that he did not seem to get a fair chance at more playing time at Niagara. From what I saw he had the tools to be very good. He was put into a couple of difficult games that should not have been used to measure him. There is a running back at BC that I have been disappointed that he hadn't got any playing time despite looking very good in spring practice over 2 years. He is also the biggest back on the team. Finally, he got into the game at Syracuse when 3 backs ahead of him were injured and a 4th being very undersized was not effective at all. What did he do: Came in late in the game and made critical runs 5 times for 32 yards and was given the game ball by the coach. Why don't these coaches see what we the average spectator can see?
