A very interesting take by DDH re NU's newcomers:
Malik Edwards is a transfer from William Penn University, an NAIA program where he averaged 16 points per game last season, and could be the next in a line of successful transfers up such as Gray and Kobi Nwandu before him. The biggest boost for the Purple Eagles, however, could come from Chicago freshman Ahmad Henderson, who will be a favorite for rookie of the year honors if his hype is any indication.

Rookie of the Year: Ahmad Henderson, Niagara

NU: 5th

These rankings gives us some degree of hope based on all the roster turnover at NU. I haven’t seen any of these kids play, but I’m encouraged that we have an experienced group in the line-up as opposed to freshmen.

Given the current landscape in college basketball , going the JC route is particularly beneficial for the mid majors who continually have their best players poached . Generally the JC recruit has upwards of 60 games under their belt and are ready to contribute immediately . Of course I'd prefer building a program with freshmen , but that's a thing of the past for programs like NU .

L. Bumbo, Bullock and Mensah all played well for NU vs ND. I guess they forgot Henderson.
