NU 2 - Bentley 6

Post by le »

Bentley (4-4) recently split two weekend contests with AIC and RMU. BU has been drawing well at their new on campus arena.

WALTHAM, Mass. – The Falcons host Niagara this weekend at Bentley Arena for a pair of games. Friday's game is a 7:05 PM faceoff and Saturday gets underway at 4:05 PM.

The all-time series between Bentley and Niagara is 10-15-3. The teams swept each other on each other's home-ice last season. The away team has won the last six games in the series. That includes a 2-0 series victory for the Falcons in the 2022 AHA playoffs on the road.

That’s a lot of goals to allow in the first period.

Oulette started but was pulled for Day . Yup , it’s goaltending. What the hell is wrong with Fiske?

“Ryan Ouellette made 15 saves in the first period. Mitchell Day played the second and third periods and made 11 saves.”

Ouellette was either hurt or was pulled for poor play. Former NU players Veltri and Sibell are playing VERY well for RMU and Saint Thomas while our netminders are not playing as expected. The signing of AIC transfer Fiske was celebrated by NU coaching staff and media. Where's the beef ? Now that frosh Day made an appearance last night, NU has rotated in three different netminders. Obviously, the coach isn't pleased with the play of his goalies thus far. Ouelette's SAVE% is .893, Fiske's SV% .822 significantly lower than Veltri's and Sibell's. GAA is 3.00 and 4.80 for the two NU goalies.
New Englander : Veltri is doing well for RMU, being in the top 5 nationally in Save Percentage at .942. Doing even better if that was even possible is Sibell at St. Thomas. He is 3rd at .947 but he is also 4th in Goals Against Average at 1.27. I was bothered that he did not seem to get a fair chance at more playing time at Niagara.

1,400 last night at Bentley.
The Falcons’ six goals equals the Atlantic Hockey season high and their 12 assists and 18 points are the most by an AHA team in 2023-24. In addition to those season highs, Bentley also holds the conference season-best in shots on goal with 54 earlier this season.
TODAY: Niagara @ Bentley, 4:00 PM
