Not much local converge from the Gazette or Buff News. As Suge mentioned, nice crowd on hand for home opener.

PE.COM:

Niagara Notes
• Niagara dropped to 5-6 all-time against Bucknell. The Bison have won the last five meetings in the series.
• Henderson's 28 points is the most by a freshman in their home debut, surpassing Juan'ya Green's 25 points against Central Connecticut in 2011.
• The Purple Eagles made a season-high eight 3-pointers, one more than they had on Monday night in South Bend.
• Henderson, Bumbalough, and Obeng-Mensah recorded double-digit points for the second consecutive game.
• The Purple and White scored 13 points off turnovers and nine on fast break chances.
• Senior Lance Erving started for the Purple Eagles for the first time since Jan. 20, 2023, at Rider.
• The 1,239 attendance is the largest home opener crowd since 1,251 people showed by for the home opener in 2019, the first game in the Paulus era.

I followed the score in relative real time, though the delay was overly long in updates. Disappointing when you cannot defend your home court and the visitors outshoot you on your own rims. Getting out hustled on the boards when you shoot under 45% is usually a recipe for losing. No excuse for not playing hard defense, but not seeing the game, I can't say if that was the case. We were all hoping Obioha would step up this year after a season of experience and conditioning.
