The team should be on Oahu for their three venture the kids will never forget!
Nice that NCAA POLICY : Hawaii and Alaska have exemptions that allowed the game/ trip!

The game will be carried live on ESPN +.

BUFF NEWS:
"From Lewiston to paradise: How the Niagara men's basketball program landed a nonconference game at Hawaii."

An unlikely men’s basketball matchup will take place in the tropics.

Niagara packed its shorts and suntan lotion instead of its heavy coats and gloves, and will take a few days to enjoy the 80-degree weather in Oahu, rather than busing to northeast Ohio for a weekend road trip.

The Purple Eagles will play Hawaii in a nonconference game at midnight ET Thursday in Honolulu, in one of the more notable schedule swaps in college basketball this season.

It’s the result of an 11th-hour schedule addition announced Friday. The Purple Eagles flew Monday morning to Honolulu, with a layover at O’Hare International Airport outside of Chicago, and they will face the Rainbow Warriors in a game that came together as a way to fill holes in each team’s schedule due to the cancellation of or withdrawal from multi-team events.

Vegas has NU getting 11.5 points. .. 11.00 PM ESPN+.

Need to Know - PE.COM

» The Purple Eagles will travel 4,673 miles to take on Hawai’i on Thursday, Nov. 16 at 7 p.m. Hawaiian time.
» Thursday marks the first meeting between Niagara and Hawai’i, but not Niagara’s first trip to the Pacific Islands. In 1994, the Purple and White played in the Big Island Invitational taking on Purdue, Northern Iowa and UH Hilo.
» Niagara is looking for their first win of the season on Thursday after holding at least a nine-point lead in each of its first two games. The Purple and White are currently the only MAAC school without a win this season.
» Freshman Ahmad Henderson II was named MAAC Rookie of the Week after averaging 21.0 points and 4.0 rebounds, and shooting over 41.0 percent overall and from behind the 3-point line.
» Henderson’s 28 points in his home debut was the most by a Purple Eagle in program history, surpassing Juan’ya Green’s mark of 25 set in 2011 vs. Central Connecticut.
» Niagara has seen Henderson, Luke Bumbalough, and Yaw Obeng-Mensah all record double-digit points in each of the first two games of the season.
» The Purple and White have connected on 15 3-pointers through two games, including a season-high eight vs. Bucknell last Saturday. In 2022-23, it took Niagara four games to connect on 15 3-pointers.

“HONOLULU— The University of Hawai'i men's basketball team will host its second game in three days to start the 2023-24 season when it hosts Niagara on Thursday, Nov. 16 at the SimpliFi Arena at Stan Sheriff Center. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.

UH opened their season Tuesday night with an 82-66 win over Division II UH Hilo. It was the program's 14th win in its last 15 season-openers with all the wins coming by double-digits.
Newcomers Justin McKoy (15 points) and Tom Beattie (12) led a balanced UH attack that saw eight players finish with at least eight points.
The Purple Eagles dropped their first two games of the season with a road loss at Notre Dame (70-63) on Nov. 6, followed by a home loss to Bucknell (73-64) on Nov. 11.”

I've asked my Ca classmate to cover the game and report back.
Odds are really low we'll see a thing!

Woke up to see the results of an ass kicking In Hawaii. Another opposing team shoots lights out and dominates the boards. NU’s porous defense allows the Rainbows to shoot 59%. Wow.
Coach has a lot of work to do to find the right combinations.

Sounds like team D was an issue. .. My hope is this sluggish start can be attributed to the influx of newcomers on the roster. Obviously , there is little of any chemistry on this team. … Nice arena , close to 4,000 in the house last night.

ONOLULU, O'AHU – Hawai'i (2-0) shot 59.6 percent from the field, including 50.0 percent from 3-point land, to defeat Niagara (0-3) 92-73 in non-conference basketball action from SimpliFi Arena at Stan Sheriff Center.

The Purple Eagle reserves scored 44 of the team's 73 points, led by senior Braxton Bayless' career-high 20 points on 7-for-10 shooting. Kwane Marble Jr. added 11 points and five rebounds, followed by Dre Bullock with nine points and Lance Erving with eight. Harlan Obioha led NU on the glass, grabbing a season-high eight rebounds. Niagara shot 46.4 percent from the floor as a team, including a 36.4 percent mark from beyond the 3-point line.

Four Rainbow Warriors scored in double figures, led by Noel Coleman's game-high 21 points and Justin McKoy's 12-point, 11-rebound double-double.

Anybody watch trouncing last night from Honolulu? I'm sure the travel and time change had some impact.

The good news is that the Purples don't play until Nov. 25th at Saint Francis PA.

I watched most of the game , NU just couldn't match up physically and athletically with Hawaii . NU was hard pressed to stay within 10 points throughout the first half , in the second half Hawaii just wore the Purps down . The effort can't be questioned as NU played hard , however in the end Hawaii clearly had the better overall talent .
