"Bulls outclass NU in Big 4 blowout"

Postby le » Sat Dec 21, 2019 10:04 am

Vegas has NU getting 16.50 points. UB is coming off of wins against the Griffs, William & Mary and DePaul. However, UB did lose to Army at West Point. Another tough match up for the Purps on the road.

The Bulls, who are the two-time defending MAC champions, was picked second in the MAC East Division Preseason Poll.

UB hs become a mid major power over the last 5-7 years. Basketball with 4 MAC championships and 2 NCAA wins, Women's Basketball 3 Championships and a trip to the sweet 16 as well as two trips to the round of 32, Football, two straight bowl appearances including a resounding win yesterday. There was a lot of criticism several years ago when the school cut 5 non revenue sports including Baseball, Mens Soccer, crew . Yet cutting these sports allowed the school to concentrate on the Football and Basketball programs and they have succeeded. In addition to building a $25 million field house without any taxpayers money the school is becoming a force to be reckoned with.

Gotta go now, heading up to the game hoping a huge upset.

NU was actually competitive until Greg K picked up his second foul with a T tacked on and the he had to sit. After that Buffalo rolled underneath and opened up everything.

Made the trek to Alumni Arena. Place is really nice. Atmosphere is terrible. Maybe it was because the students(band, cheerleaders, etc) were not there but the place was dead. I'll take the GC at half empty any day for a game. Credit to Kuak and Kratholm. I thought they would be our biggest weakness throughout the season but they have really answered the call as of late. Our lack of length was the difference. UB was just bigger at every position today. Not so much bigger but had greater length. They were in passing lanes on defense and it was like shooting in the driveway for them all game. Made like 17 or 18 threes. Not sure what the focus will be for Greg this year in recruiting. We could probably use one more post player. Might be best served to look for some 6'5 to 6'7 wing type players that can shoot. I know it is easier said than done but we could use a couple of them guys on the wing.

When the students , band and cheerleaders are there, the place IS entirely different. Smallest crowd (2600) I've seen there in many a year. Sabres game, Bills game etc. I was pleased by Greg Kauk as he is becoming a scoring threat. Towns responded from his flop at Bona. In the last minutes of the first after my first post if I recall Towns 6 points and McDonalds trey were the only points NU scored.

The next game at the Orange will be challenging, to say the least.
