The MAAC's RPI has jumped up to #24 ahead of the NEC at #25. Other notables : AEAST @ #23, Patriot- #20, MAC- #12 and Ivy at #13 which is eye popping. I remember buying a Street & Smith's Mag back in the mid to late 90's when the MAAC was ranked at #12 -#14... Anyways, MAAC League play is upon us:

FRIDAY, JANUARY 3

7:00 PM Manhattan at Canisius ESPN+
7:00 PM Fairfield at Niagara ESPN+
7:00 PM Saint Peter's at Iona ESPN+
7:00 PM Quinnipiac at Marist ESPN+

SPC came back from down 17 in the second half of that game. Top story/play on the Scott Van Pelt sportscenter last night. Damn impressive.

Matt Turner and Darius Hines have been released from Marist due to violations of team rules.

Michael Ortale(RS FR) is transferring from Iona.

Interesting name to keep an eye on is Peter Kiss down at Rutgers. Former Freshmen of the Year for Q'Pac. He has fallen out of the rotation at Rutgers. Probably not thinking about coming back to the MAAC but definitely a name to watch.

Missed that, impressive.

Hines was a decent player at Marist- --plated a ton of minutes under the former coach.

Kiss was a hella of a player at QU as a frosh. Yeah, watch him.

Big win for Qpac over Rider last night at home. We have QU away this Friday...Attendance was 550, yikes --bad travel night ?

HAMDEN, Conn. -- Rich Kelly scored 22 points with eight assists as Quinnipiac beat Rider 80-61 on Tuesday night. Jacob Rigoni added 21 points on 7-of-8 shooting from beyond the 3-point arc.

Seth Pinkney had three blocks to go with seven points for Quinnipiac (7-5, 2-0 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference). Kevin Marfo added 11 rebounds and six points.

Marfo, ranked No. 1 nationally in rebounds per game (13.5) coming into the contest, continued his streak as the only player in the country to grab 10 or more rebounds in every game he's played this season.

Dimencio Vaughn scored 18 points and Frederick Scott added 17 with eight rebounds for the Broncs (8-5, 2-1).

Stevie Jordan, the Broncs' leading scorer coming into the contest at 14 points per game, failed to make a shot from the floor (0 of 6), finishing with two points, four assists and four turnovers.

Quinnipiac plays Niagara at home on Friday. Rider takes on Iona at home on Friday.

WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 8

7:00 PM Marist at Fairfield ESPN+

THURSDAY, JANUARY 9

7:00 PM Saint Peter's at Siena ESPN 3

Wasn't Marfo one of Niagara's key recruiting targets a few years ago. What a difference he would have made on this years team, exactly what they are missing.
