Amarillo, TX – The Amarillo Bulls announced, Monday afternoon, that defenseman Noah Carlin has committed to play Division I hockey at Niagara University.

Carlin, a Marine City, Michigan native, recently completed his second season with the Bulls, having joined the team for 46 regular-season games and 13 postseason appearances during the 2018-2019 season.

“I’m so grateful and excited for this opportunity,” said Carlin. “I felt that Niagara would be the best fit for me not only as a player but a person. It is a great school, and the education I will receive will help set me up for success in life. The hockey program is outstanding, and I’m so excited to be a part of it. I’d like to thank Coach Russo and Coach Lewis for everything they have done for me and helping me get to where I am. I’d also like to thank my family for making so many sacrifices and always supporting me.”

The 2019-2020 season brought about a much-improved season for Carlin, as he tallied 30 points on 12 goals and 18 assists through his 50 games. His point total ranked him as the top defensive scorer on the Bulls roster.

“We are extremely proud of Noah and excited for him and his family,” said Head Coach Rocky Russo. “He worked very hard to improve his game the last two seasons, and his commitment to Niagara is well earned. We are also thrilled that Noah will be returning to Amarillo for the 2020-21 season. He will be one of our captains and a huge part of our success as we chase our goal of winning a Robertson Cup. There is no doubt that Noah will be a tremendous addition to Coach Lammers program and Niagara University as a whole.”

Okotoks, AB – The Okotoks Oilers of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) are proud to announce that 2000 born forward Zane Kindrachuk (Calgary, Alberta) has committed to the Niagara University Purple Eagles.

Located in Lewiston, New York the Purple Eagles play in the NCAA’s Atlantic Hockey Association under third year Head Coach Jason Lammers. The Purple Eagles have won three Conference Championship and have participated in four NCAA Tournaments with their most recent appearance in 2013.

Kindrachuk, 20 in his third season in the AJHL with the Oilers, registered 59 points (27 goals, 32 assists) in 54 games played during the 2019-20 regular season

Zane has spent all of his Junior ’A’ career with the green and gold, accumulating 121 points (51 goals, 70 assists) in 164 games played. During his time in the post season he has helped the Oilers reach the South Division & AJHL Final, in that time scoring eight points (1 goal, 7 assists) in 22 Inter Pipeline Cup playoff games.

Oilers Head Coach / General Manager / Director of Hockey Development Tyler Deis says Kindrachuk’s work ethic & hockey IQ has helped him lead to this point in his career and knows he can count on him in any situation on and off the ice.

“Zane makes his entire line better and helps them strive to be at their best on every shift of the game,” he says. “Whether it’s a key situation in the offensive or defensive zone, power play, penalty kill, or at any vital moment Zane has the confidence and skills to help us through any scenario. We know he’s going to do the same for Niagara when he steps on to campus and puts on that NCAA jersey for the first time.”

Kindrachuk has also showcased his talents on the world stage as he was a member of Team AJHL during the Junior Club World Cup in Sochi, Russia during the Summer of 2019 where he registered an assist in five tournament games.

Zane is looking forward to the next step in his career when the time arrives.

“I couldn’t be more excited and grateful to commit to Niagara,’ he says. “I’m fortunate to get the opportunity to play college hockey while working towards my Business Degree.”

“I can’t thank my support group enough for all they’ve done for me in my hockey career, from my family to my billet family, coaches, teammates and the entire Oilers Organization.”

The Oilers would like to congratulate Zane and his family on his achievement and them for their dedication to our program and the Foothills community both on and off the ice.

Kindrachuk spent all of his career in "A LEAGUES" which is the top Junior Leagues in Canada. His team had "12" players sign with other "major" college hockey programs. He seems to be a "quality" recuit who can put the puck in the net evidenced by registered 59 points (27 goals, 32 assists) in 54 games...I'm not sure if he is related, but Orsrt Kindrachuck was a hella of hockey player for the Philly Flyers back in the 70's.

The Amarillo Bulls have placed many players at the high D1 level especially in Hockey East. Again, this is a top junior program in the US.
